Real ID has been talked about for years now (actually, for 15 years, since the law was enacted in 2005 following 9/11.) The time has finally come.  In October of this year, REAL ID will be required to fly, as well as to enter any U.S. federal building or park. A U.S. Passport will do the trick, but if you don’t want to carry your Passport with you everywhere you go, think about getting the star on the top of your driver’s license. Follow this link for all the  how-to’s and where-to’s of the REAL ID.

Of course, I might add that it’s never a bad idea to have your Passport handy.  You never know when you are going to get the call that says, “Be at the airport in half an hour – there is a free First Class seat waiting for you to take you to Paris tonight!”  Wouldn’t want to miss that, now, would we?
